INTRODUCTION
The course is for students and teachers who want or need to understand the basic elements of English grammar. It is primarily designed to provide present and future teachers with a clear understanding of the manner in which the systems in English Grammar operates, with step-by-step instructions and plenty of exercise to consolidate what has been learned. The course covers the central system that account for the most frequently occurring grammatical structures in the language from a strictly pedagogical point of view. It aims to describe the most common structures in a systematic way. The course is designed for teachers in general and for those who work in specific field like business English and ESOL teachers. It provides a fundamental understanding of how grammar works so that a teacher is prepared to apply methods of presentation as well as provide pedagogically sound explanations, both in classroom as questions spontaneously arise and in giving feedback on students' work.
COURSE STRUCTURE
To qualify for the Certificate in Teaching Grammar students must complete the following:
Units consisting of lesson planning, morphemes, articles, determiners, tenses, modals, question system, voices, conditional, reported speech, relative clauses, phrases, clauses, sentences, phrasal verbs / adjectives + prepositions, sentence structure / agreement Four (4) details lessons plan, One (1) Classroom Presentation.
MODE OF DELIVERY
Blended learning includes face-to-face lectures, classroom discussion, hands-on training activities and teaching practice.
MODE OF ASSESSMENT
Written Assignments and Practical Teachings.
ADMISSION CRITERIA
In order for you to gain entry into the Certificate in Teaching Grammar, all trainees need to have a sound level of ability in written and spoken English.
One of the following examples of evidence of English proficiency must be provided prior to enrolment in the course: 5 GCE "O" Levels with a credit in English or equivalent High School report results from year 12 level English A result from an endorsed test of English proficiency (with an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent) If you are unable to provide evidence of English proficiency, please contact us to discuss what options are available. You may be asked to complete an entry test or participate in an interview over the phone or face to face.
AWARD
Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded with Certificate in Teaching Grammar.
